Alexander McQueen learned his craft on Savile Row

Before the theatrics, Alexander McQueen was a tailor. He apprenticed on Savile Row, making coats at Anderson & Sheppard and trousers at Gieves & Hawkes, before he ever drew a collection. That training is why the cut held. He debuted the ultra-low 'bumster' trouser in 1993, and at his 1999 show 'No. 13', two car-factory robots spray-painted a dress in black and yellow on a spinning Shalom Harlow.
