The Chelsea boot was made for Queen Victoria

The Chelsea boot is Victorian, not Mod. Joseph Sparkes Hall, bootmaker to Queen Victoria, patented the elastic-sided boot in 1837, using new vulcanised rubber so you could pull it on without laces or buttons. The name came a century later, off the King's Road in 1960s Chelsea, where the Mods and the bands wore it. Same boot, new postcode.
