The Converse All Star got its signature 17 years late

The Chuck Taylor All Star is the rare signature shoe where the signature came seventeen years after the shoe. Converse launched the All Star in 1917; the name landed on the ankle patch around 1934, once salesman and player Chuck Taylor had spent a decade evangelising it across America. Sources put the exact year anywhere from 1932 to 1934, but the point holds: an athlete's name on an existing model, decades before the sneaker-endorsement era it basically invented.
