Burberry beat the rain at the yarn

Burberry beat the rain at the yarn. Thomas Burberry invented gabardine in 1879, waterproofing the thread before weaving so the cloth breathed and the wet stayed out. He patented it in 1888. The army took the coat to the trenches of the Great War, adding the epaulettes and D-rings we still wear. The trench was kit before it was fashion.
