Opinion: trend-hopping is homelessness

Nobody trend-hops because they're shallow. They do it because nothing claims them. Identity used to come with a uniform. A scene, a trade, a tribe, a city. You dressed like your people because you had people. We dissolved most of that, and now style gets rented by the week. Clean girl, mob wife, whatever's next. The churn isn't fickleness. It's the search. A trend is a costume. A style is an address. Most people are still looking for somewhere to live.
