Naomi Campbell wins her appeal against the five-year charity trustee ban over Fashion For Relief: what the 2024 inquiry found
The 2024 inquiry had put a May 2018 hotel stay near Cannes at the centre of its findings against Campbell: three nights paid from the charity's funds, with spa treatments, room service and cigarettes on the bill. The tribunal, after a four-day hearing in June, found she was not responsible for that spending. The Charity Commission said the court had recognised that it, Campbell and the law firm concerned were all subject to sophisticated deception by one of the other trustees, and that it would reflect on the decision.

NAOMI CAMPBELL HAS WON HER APPEAL AGAINST A FIVE-YEAR BAN ON SERVING AS A CHARITY TRUSTEE. A TRIBUNAL RULED ON 1 OCTOBER.
THE BAN, ANNOUNCED IN SEPTEMBER 2024, FOLLOWED A CHARITY COMMISSION INQUIRY INTO FASHION FOR RELIEF, THE CHARITY SHE FOUNDED IN 2005.
THE INQUIRY FOUND THAT 8.5% OF THE CHARITY'S SPENDING HAD GONE ON CHARITABLE GRANTS.
IT FOUND 290,000 POUNDS OF UNAUTHORISED CONSULTANCY PAYMENTS TO ANOTHER TRUSTEE, BIANKA HELLMICH, WHO WAS BANNED FOR NINE YEARS.
THE TRIBUNAL FOUND THAT THE MISUSE OF FUNDS HAD BEEN CONCEALED FROM CAMPBELL, USING FORGED DOCUMENTS AND A FALSE EMAIL ADDRESS IN HER NAME.
THE TRIBUNAL SAID THERE HAD BEEN 'SERIOUS MISCONDUCT AND MISMANAGEMENT' AT THE CHARITY, BUT THAT CAMPBELL WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THAT CONDUCT AND DID NOT KNOW OF IT.
THE COMMISSION RECOVERED MORE THAN 344,000 POUNDS OF THE CHARITY'S MONEY. FASHION FOR RELIEF WAS REMOVED FROM THE REGISTER IN 2024.
'GIVING BACK HAS BEEN PART OF WHO I AM, SO HAVING THAT QUESTIONED HURT DEEPLY,' CAMPBELL SAID.
